In a deeply emotional and troubling case, a 15-year-old girl who went missing from Kumasi for several weeks has been found in Accra, reportedly staying with her boyfriend.
The incident has sparked public concern over teenage vulnerability, parental authority, and growing social pressures affecting young girls.
According to reports, the young girl fled her mother’s home in Kumasi without notice and was later located in Accra, where she had been living with a man identified as her boyfriend.

When reunited with her family and confronted with the choice between returning home to her mother or staying with her boyfriend, the teenager stunned many by choosing to remain with the man.
The girl’s mother, overwhelmed with emotion, reportedly wept as she pleaded for her daughter’s return.
She expressed disbelief at her daughter’s decision and issued a passionate warning that she would resort to spiritual means if the situation was not resolved especially if the boyfriend, who has since gone into hiding, failed to come forward.
The case has ignited conversation about child protection, parental control, and the need for stronger societal support systems.

Many have called for immediate intervention from social welfare authorities and child protection services to ensure the girl’s safety and to investigate potential statutory violations, given her age.
