A tragic incident has claimed the life of a 21-year-old man in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region after an attempted theft from an electricity installation.
The deceased, identified as Martine George, a native of Kukuazugu near Walewale, reportedly died from electrocution while attempting to steal copper wires from an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) transformer.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred when the young man allegedly climbed the transformer structure and tried to cut the copper cables.

In the process, he came into contact with a live electrical component, resulting in a fatal electric shock.
Witnesses indicate that the electrocution caused George to lose balance and fall from the transformer.
He died instantly at the scene. Residents who discovered the body alerted local authorities, who later arrived to secure the area and begin investigations.
The incident has sparked concern among community members, highlighting the dangers associated with tampering with electrical infrastructure.
ECG officials and security agencies have repeatedly warned the public against illegal access to power installations, stressing that such actions pose serious risks to life and can disrupt electricity supply to entire communities.
Police have since conveyed the body to a medical facility for preservation and further examination, while investigations continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
