32 Nigerians arrested for operating cybercrime romance scam in Kasoa after a serious operation was carried out.
In a major breakthrough in the fight against cybercrime, Ghanaian authorities have apprehended 32 Nigerian nationals suspected of operating a sophisticated romance scam syndicate in Kasoa Tuba, in the Central Region.

The operation, which was carried out through a collaborative effort between the Cyber Security Authority and National Security operatives, is part of intensified efforts by the government to clamp down on organized cyber fraud, particularly scams that exploit vulnerable individuals online.

According to officials, the suspects allegedly targeted victims, mostly from foreign countries, by posing as potential romantic partners on social media and online dating platforms.
They would build emotional connections with their targets and eventually defraud them of large sums of money under various false pretenses, including fake emergencies and travel arrangements.
The arrest follows weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering by the security agencies. The suspects are currently in custody, assisting with further investigations.

Digital devices, SIM cards, and other electronic gadgets believed to have been used in perpetrating the fraud were retrieved during the raid.
Authorities have emphasized their commitment to rooting out cybercrime and warned that Ghana will not serve as a safe haven for international fraud syndicates.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned before court soon, and charges may include conspiracy to defraud, identity theft, and cyber fraud.
The Cyber Security Authority urged the public to be vigilant and report suspicious online activities, especially involving unsolicited romantic advances from strangers.
