Over the past 48 hours, intelligence-led operations spearheaded by the Cyber Security Authority Ghana (CSA) uncovered multiple suspected cybercrime centres operating in East Legon Hills, Afienya, Kwabenya, Weija, and Tuba.

According to the intelligence gathered, young men—mostly foreign nationals—were being recruited, coerced, and exploited by suspected kingpins to engage in organised cybercrime activities from these locations.

Acting on this information, a joint security task force comprising operatives from National Security Operations, the CSA, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, and the Ghana Police Service SWAT Unit conducted coordinated raids on 16 and 17 January 2026.

The operations led to the arrest of nine (9) Nigerian nationals identified as key suspects. Additionally, forty-four (44) other Nigerian nationals, believed to be victims of trafficking and exploitation, were rescued from various apartments where they were found operating laptop computers under controlled conditions.

Searches carried out at the premises resulted in the retrieval of fifty-two (52) assorted mobile phones, sixty-two (62) laptop computers, and two (2) pump-action firearms.

In total, fifty-three (53) Nigerian nationals were arrested across the five locations: East Legon Hills (5), Afienya (11), Kwabenya (10), Weija (10), and Tuba (17).

All suspects have been duly profiled and handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for safekeeping and further investigations.

Some individuals from earlier operations have already been processed in collaboration with INTERPOL and repatriated to Nigeria through the Seme border, while others are currently facing prosecution before Ghanaian courts.
