The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspected gang leaders believed to be key figures behind the high-profile Adabraka gold robbery, following months of intelligence-led surveillance and covert operations.

The arrests were carried out by the Inspector-General of Police’s (IGP) Special Operations Unit after investigators reportedly tracked the movements and communications of the suspects across several locations in Accra and its environs.

According to police sources, the operation was the result of sustained intelligence gathering, including technical surveillance and human intelligence, aimed at identifying those responsible for planning and executing the robbery.

The Adabraka gold robbery, which later extended into Ashaiman, drew widespread public attention due to the sophistication of the operation and the significant value of gold allegedly involved.

Investigators believe the suspects arrested played leadership roles within a wider criminal syndicate, coordinating logistics, recruitment, and distribution channels linked to the stolen gold.

Preliminary findings suggest the gang operated with a structured hierarchy, using safe houses and intermediaries to evade detection.

Police say this complexity necessitated a cautious and prolonged investigation to avoid alerting other members of the network.

Authorities have confirmed that investigations are still ongoing, with a strong focus on dismantling the entire criminal enterprise rather than securing isolated arrests.

Efforts are currently underway to identify accomplices, recover stolen items, and trace financial transactions connected to the robbery.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that the suspects will be processed in accordance with the law and arraigned before court once investigations are concluded.

The Service also reiterated its commitment to tackling organized crime through intelligence-driven policing and urged the public to continue providing credible information to support ongoing operations.
