A marriage dispute involving a Nigerian couple has ignited intense debate on social media following allegations that a man deliberately stranded his wife in Nigeria after luring her from Australia under false pretences.
According to reports circulating online, the couple, who had been living together in Australia, travelled to Nigeria after the husband allegedly informed his wife that his parents were celebrating a significant anniversary and requested her presence.
However, events reportedly took an unexpected turn shortly after their arrival.
Sources claim that the man confiscated his wife’s personal documents and mobile phone and later returned alone to Australia, leaving her behind in Nigeria.
Not long afterward, his family is said to have formally returned her dowry, a customary act signifying the dissolution of the marriage.
The dispute is reportedly rooted in conflicting views on pregnancy and childbirth. The couple married in 2022, with the wife relocating to Australia in 2024 to join her husband.
She is said to have expressed a firm decision not to carry a pregnancy herself, preferring surrogacy as an alternative.
According to accounts, she has maintained that pregnancy is a personal bodily choice and should not be imposed against her will.
The husband, however, is reported to have rejected this position, insisting that he wants a partner who is willing to conceive and give birth naturally.
He has allegedly stated that if his wife is unwilling to do so, the marriage cannot continue.
