A Nigerian nail technician has ignited widespread online debate after publicly criticizing members of her church who asked her to train eight young girls for free in the name of empowerment.
According to her account, she received no financial or moral support from church members when she was struggling to learn nail work.
She disclosed that her mother never approached the church for help, and throughout her difficult training period, it was her sister alone who bore the costs—including paying for the shop she now owns.

The situation, she explained, became ironic when the same church later approached her, claiming they were trying to empower youths.
Upon learning that she was a nail technician, church representatives reportedly brought eight girls to her shop and asked her to train them without charge, insisting it was “the Lord’s work.”
She revealed that her standard three-month training fee is ₦190,000 per person, excluding tools.
However, the church allegedly rejected the cost, emphasizing their goal of empowerment and expecting her to absorb all expenses.
Questioning the fairness of the request, the nail technician asked why she was not empowered when she herself was struggling as a young person.
She argued that empowerment should not mean transferring financial burdens to individuals who received no prior support.
