Ghana’s commitment to combating cybercrime was reinforced over the weekend as the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), working closely with the Greater Accra Regional Command and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, carried out two successful operations against organized cybercriminal networks.
In the first operation, conducted across three locations in Sakumono, security agencies dismantled a sophisticated SIMbox fraud setup used to manipulate telecommunications traffic for illegal gains.
The operation led to the arrest of three Nigerian nationals and a Ghanaian landlord who allegedly facilitated the activities.

SIMbox fraud poses a serious threat to national revenue, telecommunications integrity, and public trust, making its disruption a significant achievement.
A second operation in Vakpo, in the Volta Region, resulted in the arrest of a three-member Ghanaian syndicate involved in impersonation, sextortion, and mobile money (MoMo) fraud. Notably, the suspects impersonated the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, to deceive and defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
All suspects have been processed and are facing prosecution in accordance with Ghanaian law.
The operations send a clear and firm message: while Ghana remains a welcoming and hospitable nation, it will not tolerate the abuse of its digital space.
