A fire outbreak at the Atonsu Market has destroyed fourteen living rooms and forty-two stores, according to the Assembly Member for the Atonsu Proper Electoral Area, Hon. Brimpong Owusu Akwaboah.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the day, sending panic through the busy commercial area and forcing residents and traders to flee for safety.

Preliminary information indicates that the fire spread rapidly due to the close proximity of the structures, many of which contained highly flammable goods.

Although no fatalities were recorded, several traders and residents lost merchandise, household items, and personal belongings worth thousands of cedis.

Fire officers from the Ghana National Fire Service responded to the scene and worked for several hours to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading further into adjoining residential areas.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be established, but investigations have commenced to determine its origin.

Hon. Akwaboah expressed concern over the increasing frequency of market fires and called for stricter enforcement of fire safety measures.

He also appealed to authorities, non-governmental organizations, and benevolent individuals to support the affected victims as they work to rebuild their lives and businesses.
