The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers believed to be responsible for a series of violent attacks on miners at Kunsu and nearby communities in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects—Yahaya Siedu, also known as Diamond (34); Atta Israel, alias Abode3/Stone (32); Victor Gyan, alias City Boy (26); and Stanley Wiafe Akanten, alias Figo (30)—are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
According to the police, the suspects carried out a robbery at a mining site in Kunsu on December 7, 2025, during which they assaulted a miner, Kingsley Asare, and made away with gold concentrates, cash, and mobile phones.

Following the attack, the suspects reportedly went into hiding.
Addressing the media, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Osei Akoto Arthur, said the arrests were the result of sustained intelligence-led operations.
He disclosed that items retrieved from the suspects include two pump-action guns, 22 BB cartridges, five mobile phones—one belonging to a complainant—and GH¢5,400 in cash.
In a statement, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, said the suspects were arrested on January 21, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m. by the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit, with support from the National Operations Directorate.
One of the firearms, a Pardus shotgun, was confirmed to have been stolen during the December 7 robbery along the Kunsu–Mankranso road.

Police say two accomplices remain at large, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.
