During the operation, passengers were ordered to lie face-down on the road for more than 30 minutes while the robbers searched and collected money.

The prolonged nature of the attack heightened fear among victims, many of whom were left shaken but unharmed physically after the assailants fled the scene with the cash.

The incident underscores growing concerns about highway security, particularly during night travel. It also raises questions about patrol coverage and response times along major transport corridors.

Authorities are expected to investigate the attack as calls intensify for stronger security measures to protect commuters on long-distance routes.
