The Ghana Police Service in Kasoa has arrested a 25-year-old woman in connection with an alleged human trafficking operation linked to Burkina Faso.

The suspect, identified as Janet Yenka Yinkrug, is accused of luring her boyfriend, Mahmoud Imoro, to travel with her to Burkina Faso under false pretenses.

According to police sources, the suspect allegedly intended to abandon the victim after crossing the border and continue her journey to Spain, where she was expected to join individuals believed to be part of a trafficking network.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was unaware of the full nature of the trip and was misled about the purpose of the travel arrangements.

Police say the operation forms part of broader human trafficking activities that exploit personal relationships to deceive victims.

The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to establish the full scope of the alleged network and identify other persons who may be involved.
