The Ghana Police Service has issued a public notice reminding all private security operators and the general public of the officially approved uniforms permitted for use by private security personnel across the country.

In the notice dated February 5, 2026, the Police stated that the directive is in accordance with Regulation 12 of the Police Service (Private Security Organizations) Regulations, 1992 (LI 1571).

The Service outlined specific uniform combinations authorized for private security operators, including designated shirt and trouser color pairings, as well as reflective attire approved strictly for use in mines and oil fields.

The Police emphasized that any uniform, color combination, or design not listed in the approved specifications—and especially those resembling uniforms of state security agencies—is deemed unauthorized.

Private security companies and in-house security personnel have therefore been directed to comply strictly with the approved standards and desist from wearing outfits that could cause confusion or misrepresentation.

The statement further warned that offenders who violate the uniform regulations will face sanctions as prescribed by law.

Members of the public have also been encouraged to familiarize themselves with the approved uniforms and report suspected violations to the appropriate authorities.
