A Nigerian woman has sparked widespread discussion online after sharing a deeply personal account of why she stopped attending church for several years, citing painful experiences involving her elder brother, a well-known pastor in Edo State.

According to her account, her brother severed ties with the family shortly after graduating from pastoral school about 17 years ago.

Despite repeated attempts by their mother to reconnect, she was allegedly treated with hostility by his wife and eventually discouraged from visiting him altogether.

The woman revealed that when her brother later fell seriously ill, his wife brought him to their parents’ home and left him there.

The family reportedly cared for him for nearly a year until he fully recovered.

However, once he regained his health, he returned to his residence and allegedly warned their mother never to seek him out again.

She said her mother did not see him for eight years before she passed away.

On the day of the burial, the pastor reportedly arrived with members of his church, offered an apology during a family meeting, and was quickly forgiven by family elders.

After the funeral, he allegedly disappeared from their lives once again.

The woman said the experience deeply affected her faith, making church attendance unbearable for years, especially as she continued to see her brother celebrated online for performing miracles.
