Social media has been awash with speculation in what has now been dubbed the “cocaine–gari” saga, following widespread claims that Chez Amis was the individual arrested at the airport for allegedly attempting to smuggle a substance believed to be cocaine concealed in packaged food products.

For the first time since the allegations surfaced, Chez Amis has publicly addressed the matter, firmly denying any involvement in the incident.

In her statement, she distanced herself from the arrest and clarified that she has no connection to the seized substance or the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, authorities have confirmed that another individual is currently in custody in connection with the case.

Investigations are ongoing as officials work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attempted smuggling.

In a related development, management of the food packaging brand whose products were allegedly used to conceal the substance has been invited to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) headquarters to assist with inquiries.

The move is part of efforts to determine whether the company had any knowledge of, or involvement in, the suspected trafficking attempt.
