Police in the Jasikan District of the Volta Region have arrested two individuals after intercepting a cargo truck suspected of transporting narcotic substances along a key transit corridor.

The operation, led by DSP Gideon Sena Zowonu and ASP Mathew Avemee, was launched following intelligence reports about a vehicle allegedly moving along the Hohoe–Likpe–Jasikan–Nkwanta route between February 13 and 16, 2026.

Acting on the tip-off, officers mounted surveillance and on Sunday afternoon, February 15, stopped a Benz cargo truck at Bodada.

Initial checks suggested the truck’s cargo area was empty. However, a thorough search uncovered a concealed compartment.

With technical assistance from an auto welder at the Jasikan Police Station, officers accessed the hidden section and retrieved 1,482 compressed parcels of substances suspected to be narcotics.

Police sources indicate that during the operation, the driver allegedly attempted to offer GH¢80,000 to the officers in exchange for his release.

The offer was reportedly rejected, and both suspects were taken into custody.

The truck has been impounded, and the seized items secured as exhibits pending laboratory analysis and further investigations.
