NAIMOS through its fight against illegal mining is enforcing most galamseyers to stop their activities in our forest.
In the Nyankamam-Armori forest of Aowin Municipality in the Western North Region, NAIMOS arrests armed thugs posing as the anti-Galamsey task force.
Illegal mining activities in the Aowin municipality are allegedly encouraged by the ten armed thugs who operate with impunity and extort money from Galamseyers, allegedly claiming to have ties to the Aowin Paramount Chief.

Since then, the NAIMOS Task Force has arrested the thugs in question along with their weapons and talismans, the thugs are currently in the Ghana Police custody assisting in investigation.
Galamsey is one of the major environmental problem affecting our lives as it has destroyed our water bodies.
Research has proven that the heavy metal, mercury injects into our river bodies can cause serious disease to our health.

The fight of illegal mining should be the priority of the government to protect our land and water bodies across the country for the future generations.
