The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed that a Ghanaian military position in Southern Lebanon came under missile attack amid ongoing hostilities in the region.
The incident occurred as tensions continue between Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Hezbollah forces in the area.
In a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces in Burma Camp, Accra, the military disclosed that the Ghanaian Battalion Headquarters serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was struck by two missiles between 1745 and 1752 hours local time.

According to the statement, two Ghanaian soldiers sustained critical injuries, while another soldier was reported to have suffered trauma following the attack.
The statement also revealed that the Officers’ Mess facility at the base was hit and completely burned down during the incident.
The injured soldiers are currently receiving treatment at a Level One Medical Bunker, where medical teams are monitoring their condition.
Authorities say the injured personnel are stable and arrangements are underway to evacuate them to the UNIFIL Headquarters Referral Hospital for further medical care.
The Ghana Armed Forces has reassured the public that Ghanaian troops stationed in the area remain safe and are currently sheltering in underground bunkers as a precaution.

Meanwhile, the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has formally protested the incident at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and called on all parties involved in the conflict to prioritize the safety of peacekeeping forces operating under the UN mission.
