The Magistrate Court at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) remanded three accused persons. This action placed them into police custody. The accused, John Odartey Lamptey (alias Nii Adjei), was captured in a viral domestic assault video. He physically assaulted a woman believed to be his wife. Therefore, authorities charged Lamptey with Physical Assault. This charge violates Sections 1(b)(i) and 3(2) of the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act 732).

The two other accused persons also face separate charges. Louis Odartey Lamptey and Grace Kushie Lamptey are the siblings. Specifically, authorities charged them with Conspiracy to Commit a Crime. They face a “threat of harm” charge. This charge violates Sections 23(1) and 74 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). Furthermore, the police charged them because they attempted threatening a female tenant. The suspects believed the tenant recorded and circulated the viral domestic assault video.

All three accused persons have been remanded into police custody. They must reappear before the court on December 3, 2025. Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service would like to once again urge the public. They ask the victim or anyone with credible information on her whereabouts to contact the nearest police station. The Police assure the public that they will treat all information provided with the utmost confidentiality.
