Basic School Student Survives on Gari at School Amid Harsh Economic Challenges

A heart-wrenching video circulating online has shed light on the harsh realities facing some schoolchildren in Ghana.

The footage captures a basic school pupil surviving on nothing but gari dry during school hours, underscoring the growing economic hardship many families endure.

According to reports accompanying the video, the student brings the gari from home in his pocket, as his parents are unable to afford proper meals.

With no access to food vendors or packed lunches, he resorts to consuming dry gari in order to stay in class and continue his education.

He sometimes goes back home during break time to eat and return to school to continue his studies.

He was seen with a shoe almost destroyed but for his love for education, he does not want to stop his education even though his parents are failing to sponsor him.
