A heartbreaking incident occurred at an illegal mining (galamsey) site, where a young man lost his life after a mining pit caved in on him.
The disturbing image from the scene shows the partially buried body of the victim, who was reportedly engaged in unregulated small-scale mining activities when the pit collapsed.
Eyewitnesses say the young man, believed to be in his early 20s, was working in the trench when the earth gave way, trapping him beneath heavy layers of soil.

Despite efforts by co-workers and locals to rescue him, he was found lifeless by the time help arrived.
This tragic event adds to the growing number of casualties linked to illegal mining across various regions in Ghana.
Galamsey operations, which often lack proper safety measures, continue to pose significant risks to lives, livelihoods, and the environment.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incident, and calls have once again been renewed for stricter enforcement of mining regulations.
