Fatal Crash on Tema Motorway Claims One Life, Several Others Injured

A devastating accident on the Tema Motorway on Thursday afternoon, November 27, 2025, has claimed the life of one person and left several others with varying degrees of injury.

The incident, which involved at least one white private vehicle, occurred during heavy traffic flow and drew immediate attention from commuters and emergency responders.

Eyewitnesses say the vehicle was traveling at considerable speed when it reportedly lost control and collided with another vehicle.

The impact caused significant damage to the front side of the white car, as shown in the image.

Several passengers were trapped and had to be assisted out of the wreckage by bystanders before emergency personnel arrived.

Paramedics and officers from the Ghana Police Service rushed to the scene. One individual was confirmed dead on the spot, while others were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

The identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed, as authorities work to notify their families.

The Tema Motorway, one of Ghana’s busiest highways connecting Accra to the industrial city of Tema, has seen numerous accidents over the years, often attributed to speeding, reckless overtaking, and poor vehicle maintenance.

In response to this incident, the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) has pledged a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash and ensure that those found culpable are held accountable.

Authorities are urging all drivers to exercise caution, adhere strictly to speed limits, and prioritize safety to prevent further loss of lives on the nation’s roads.

This accident serves as a sobering reminder of the urgent need for improved enforcement of traffic regulations and regular road safety education campaigns.
