A video circulating online has captured a significant traditional development in the Bono Region, where the paramount chief of Drobo has been officially destooled by the elders of the Drobo Traditional Council.

According to statements made during a press conference held at the Drobo Palace, the decision to relieve the chief of his duties stems from a controversial remark he made during a radio interview.

In the said interview, the chief allegedly claimed to have destooled the queen mother of the Drobo Traditional Area — a move considered not only culturally inappropriate but also a violation of established Akan customs.

Addressing the media, the Gyasehene of Drobo and other elders expressed their deep disappointment over the chief’s public statements, emphasizing that the queen mother, in Akan tradition, is regarded as the symbolic mother of the chief and holds a revered position in the traditional hierarchy.

Therefore, any public disrespect or attempt to undermine her authority is viewed as an act of insubordination and dishonor to the stool.

The elders noted that the paramount chief’s conduct brought disrepute to the traditional institution and, after thorough deliberations, resolved to strip him of his title with immediate effect.

The announcement marks a pivotal moment in Drobo’s traditional leadership and has sparked widespread attention on social media.
