Mechanic Crushed to Death While Working on VIP Bus in Takoradi

A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, January 4, 2026, at the Apollo Traffic area in Takoradi, resulting in the death of a mechanic who was working on a VIP bus.

According to eyewitnesses and sources who spoke to Penyah Blog Media (PBM), the deceased mechanic was reportedly repairing the bus’s air system when a sudden explosion occurred.

The blast caused the heavy vehicle to slip from its supported position, fatally crushing the mechanic, whose head was said to be lodged within the wheel area at the time of the accident.

Bystanders at the scene were left in shock as emergency responders arrived to manage the situation and retrieve the body.

The identity of the mechanic has not yet been released, pending notification of his family.

This unfortunate event has raised concerns over safety protocols at roadside repair zones, especially for heavy-duty vehicles such as VIP and intercity buses.

Experts are urging transport companies and vehicle owners to ensure proper safety measures, including the use of secure lifting equipment and adherence to standard procedures during repairs.

Authorities are expected to launch an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion and whether negligence or faulty equipment may have contributed to the tragic incident.
