Accra High Court gives green light for Daddy Lumba’s funeral on 13th December at Babayara Sports stadium.

The Accra High Court has cleared the way for the funeral of Ghanaian music legend Daddy Lumba to proceed as planned on Friday, December 13, 2025.

This follows the failure of the applicants—members of the late musician’s maternal family—to comply with the court’s directive to pay GH¢2 million in damages to Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu.

The court had earlier ruled that the funeral should be halted unless the maternal family paid the stipulated amount to Abusuapanin who claimed legal rights as the head of family to oversee the funeral rites.

The payment was to compensate for what Abusuapanin described as a breach of traditional protocol and wrongful exclusion from the funeral planning process.

However, with the deadline for payment elapsing without compliance, the court has now ruled in favor of Abusuapanin, allowing him to take full charge of the funeral arrangements.

The ruling brings an end to a weeks-long legal and family dispute that threatened to delay the burial of the celebrated musician.
