The government of Ghana is to build 2,000 housing Units for Armed Forces according to CDS Lt. Gen. Agyapong.
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has announced a major government initiative to address the longstanding accommodation challenges faced by the Ghana Armed Forces.

According to the CDS, the government is set to construct 2,000 housing units across the country, with 700 units earmarked for the Greater Accra Region.
Speaking at a high-level military engagement, Lt. Gen. Oppong-Peprah emphasized the importance of improving the welfare and working conditions of military personnel, noting that decent housing is essential for operational efficiency and morale.

“The accommodation situation remains a concern, but the government’s plan to construct 2,000 units is a significant step in the right direction,” he stated.
In addition to the housing projects, the CDS also revealed that efforts are underway to retool the Armed Forces with modern equipment.
Plans include the acquisition of new long-haul aircraft to boost the Ghana Air Force’s operational capacity, as well as new patrol boats to strengthen maritime security and coastal surveillance.
These developments form part of broader efforts by the government to modernize the country’s security architecture and ensure the Armed Forces are well-equipped to respond to both internal and external threats.
Lt. Gen. Oppong-Peprah commended the government’s commitment to enhancing the capacity of the military and urged personnel to remain professional and dedicated in the discharge of their duties.
