A tragic thunder strike kills mother and son in Asante Mampong in the latest report.

A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday in Asante Mampong, Ashanti Region, where a mother and her young son lost their lives after being struck by lightning during a heavy downpour.

According to eyewitnesses, the unfortunate event happened shortly after the rains began.

The victims, who were reportedly indoors at the time, were fatally hit by the lightning bolt, causing immediate shock and grief among residents of the community.

Local authorities and emergency services rushed to the scene but could do little to save the victims. The bodies have since been conveyed to a nearby morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Residents described the mother as a well-known and respected figure in the area.

The incident has left the community in mourning, with many expressing disbelief over the sudden loss.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Meteorological Agency has advised the public to take necessary precautions during thunderstorms, including avoiding open spaces and seeking shelter indoors, as lightning strikes continue to pose risks during the current rainy season.

The local assembly and NADMO are expected to visit the bereaved family and provide support as investigations continue.
