The Obuasi Police Command has arrested 40 suspects over alleged cannabis sales in the area.
In a significant crackdown on criminal activity, the Obuasi Police Command has arrested 40 individuals during a coordinated anti-crime operation targeting high-risk areas within Obuasi and its surrounding communities.

The operation took place in the early hours of Tuesday, December 16, 2025, between 5:00 a.m. and 10:20 a.m.
It was led by ASP Adam Muakalu and involved officers from the Divisional Operations Unit, Obuasi District Police, and the Formed Police Unit (FPU) based in Obuasi.
The law enforcement team conducted swoops in several identified crime and drug peddling hotspots, including Bedieso, Kunka Junction, Abompe, and Akaporiso.

At Bedieso alone, police arrested eight suspects and retrieved a black polythene bag containing dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
According to police reports, the operation was part of an intensified effort to rid the municipality of rising criminal activities, particularly drug abuse, theft, and street robberies that have recently sparked concern among residents.
The suspects are currently in police custody and undergoing screening and investigation.
Those found culpable will be processed for court, while others will be released if found innocent.

The Obuasi Police Command has assured the public of its continued commitment to ensuring safety and order in the municipality and has urged residents to support law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.
