The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced a scheduled shutdown of the Weija Water Treatment Plant on Friday, December 19, 2025, to facilitate critical maintenance works.
The shutdown, which will last from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., forms part of GWCL’s efforts to ensure the continued delivery of safe, reliable, and sustainable water services to the public, particularly during the festive season.
In a press release dated Thursday, December 18, 2025, GWCL noted that the temporary shutdown is essential to maintaining the integrity of the water infrastructure and improving overall service delivery.
The maintenance will allow technical teams to carry out repairs, upgrade equipment, and reinforce supply systems.
