E/R: 41 Suspects Arrested in Christmas Special Operations

As part of heightened security efforts for the festive season, the Ghana Police Service has arrested 41 suspects during coordinated special operations across several towns in the Eastern Region.

The targeted Christmas security exercise, aimed at curbing crime and ensuring public safety, was conducted in areas including Nkwatia, Nkawkaw, Kwahu Tafo, Saafi, Trado, Kotoso, Effiduase, Nteso, Somanya, Krobo Odumase, and Juaben.

The operations, which involved intelligence-led raids, snap checks, and patrols, were designed to preempt criminal activities that typically rise during the holiday period.

According to the police, the suspects were apprehended for various offenses ranging from robbery, assault, drug possession, unlawful possession of weapons, and suspected fraud.

A police statement revealed that items such as unlicensed firearms, narcotics, mobile phones, and suspected stolen goods were retrieved during the operation.

The suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.

Authorities have assured the public of their commitment to maintaining peace and order throughout the Christmas and New Year festivities.

The Police Service has also called on communities to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities promptly.

The Eastern Regional Police Command emphasized that such special exercises will continue across the region to deter criminal elements and protect lives and property during the holiday period and beyond.
