President John Dramani Mahama has officially cut the sod for the rehabilitation of the Sunyani–Atronie–Acherensua road and the construction of the Sunyani Outer Ring Road, marking a significant step toward enhancing transportation infrastructure in the Bono Region.

The ceremony, held in Sunyani, was attended by traditional leaders, regional executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), party supporters, and residents who welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm.

The projects are part of the NDC’s broader commitment to improving road networks and easing traffic congestion in urban and peri-urban areas.

The 40-kilometre Sunyani–Atronie–Acherensua road, once a critical route for agriculture and trade, has deteriorated over the years, affecting the movement of goods and services.

Its rehabilitation is expected to boost economic activity, especially for farmers and traders who rely heavily on this corridor.

The Sunyani Outer Ring Road project, when completed, will serve as a bypass to divert heavy-duty traffic from the city center, reduce travel time, and minimize wear on inner-city roads.

It is also expected to enhance urban mobility and support the region’s long-term development agenda.

In his address, President Mahama emphasized that road infrastructure will remain a top priority under the next NDC government, as it is key to economic development and regional integration.
