President John Dramani Mahama has attributed the success of his first year in office to the enduring support and blessings of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Speaking through the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, at the final Akwasidae Festival of the year at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the President expressed profound gratitude to the revered monarch for his guidance and goodwill.

According to Dr. Amoakohene, President Mahama began his renewed tenure by attending the first Akwasidae Festival of the year in January, shortly after his inauguration as Ghana’s sixth President.

During that visit, he sought the wisdom, prayers, and direction of the Asantehene to help steer the affairs of the country.

“Otumfuo’s blessings and counsel have been invaluable throughout the year,” the President said, acknowledging the Asantehene’s stabilizing role in Ghana’s national affairs and the personal impact of his spiritual and moral leadership.

The Akwasidae Festival, held every six weeks, is one of the most important traditional events in the Ashanti calendar, serving as a platform for uniting people from all walks of life and reaffirming loyalty to the Golden Stool.

This final celebration of the year attracted a large gathering, including traditional leaders, government officials, party executives, and members of the general public.
