Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, the widow of the late Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Kumah, has opened up for the first time about how she met her new husband following her remarriage after a year of mourning.

Speaking candidly in a recent interview, Mrs. Kumah now Mrs. Lilian Aryeequaye revealed that her relationship with her new spouse began unexpectedly and was marked by an instant emotional connection.

“I had never met him anywhere before. It was love at first sight,” she stated.

Her remarks come shortly after news broke of her marriage to Mr. Aryeequaye, sparking both support and discussions on social media.

The solemn union follows a year since the tragic passing of Dr. John Kumah in March 2024, after a reported short illness.

According to her, the decision to remarry was not made lightly. “It took prayer, healing, and time,” she explained. “Moving on doesn’t mean forgetting. It means honouring the past while allowing yourself to live again.”

Mrs. Aryeequaye emphasized that her new husband has shown deep respect for the legacy of her late spouse and has supported her emotionally and spiritually through the transition.

Many Ghanaians have commended her for her strength and grace, while others have called for sensitivity and compassion in the public conversation surrounding her personal life.

The late Dr. John Kumah was widely respected for his service to the nation, and his memory continues to be honoured by his family and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
