A fatal accident occurred at Offinso in the Ashanti Region on Monday, claiming ten lives and leaving several others injured.
The incident happened along the busy Kumasi-Techiman Highway particularly in Offinso-Awisem, involving a cement truck and a VIP bus traveling from Navrongo.
According to eyewitness accounts, the cement truck — reportedly from a nearby factory — came to an abrupt stop on the highway, obstructing the main road without any immediate warning.
The sudden halt created a dangerous traffic situation, giving oncoming vehicles little to no time to react.
Unfortunately, a VIP bus en route from Navrongo to Kumasi was unable to control its steering in time to avoid a collision.
The impact of the crash was severe, leading to the reported loss of lives and multiple injuries among the passengers.
Emergency services, including the Ghana Police Service and National Ambulance Service, quickly arrived at the scene to attend to victims.

The injured were transported to nearby health facilities for urgent medical attention, while bodies of the deceased were conveyed to the morgue.
Local authorities have begun investigations into the incident to determine the exact cause of the truck’s unexpected stop and whether any safety regulations were breached.
This tragedy has reignited calls for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations, especially for heavy-duty vehicles operating on major highways.
Many have also appealed to transport operators to ensure drivers are well-trained to respond quickly in emergency situations.
The Ghana Police has urged all motorists to drive with caution and adhere to road traffic regulations to prevent further loss of lives on the country’s roads.
