A tragic road traffic accident claimed the lives of four people on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, 24th December 2025, along the Cape Coast–Twifo Praso highway at Twifo Ntafrewaso in the Central Region.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Twifo Praso Fire Station received a distress call at approximately 4:48 p.m. and promptly deployed a rescue team to the scene.

Preliminary reports indicate that the driver lost control on a curve under wet road conditions, causing the vehicle to veer off and crash into a tree.

Three of the occupants were trapped in the mangled vehicle and had to be extricated by the rescue team.

They were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.

A fourth victim, earlier pulled out by some civilians, also succumbed to injuries at the Twifo Praso Government Hospital.

Eyewitnesses at the scene attributed the incident to overspeeding, particularly on a slippery curve made dangerous by the rainy weather.

The vehicle was completely destroyed in the crash.

Authorities are once again urging motorists to exercise extreme caution, especially during the festive season.
