It is the Desperation to See Mahama Fail That Has Led Critics to Make False Claims of Financial losses – GoldBod CEO

Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), has strongly refuted reports suggesting the state-owned gold agency is incurring losses. Speaking in a media interaction, Gyamfi described such claims as part of a politically motivated attempt to discredit the Mahama-led administration.

“In desperation to see the Mahama government fail, doom wishers are imposing ‘by force’ imaginary losses on a surplus-making GoldBod,” Gyamfi stated.

The GoldBod CEO emphasized that the institution is not only financially stable but has been recording consistent surpluses under its current management.

He accused critics of fabricating figures and narratives to damage public confidence and derail the government’s efforts in reforming the gold sector.

GoldBod, under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, plays a key role in regulating Ghana’s gold trade and ensuring transparency in the value chain. The agency has recently rolled out reforms to boost local participation and revenue generation.

Gyamfi called on Ghanaians to disregard the “false propaganda” and instead focus on the institution’s performance reports, which, he noted, will soon be made public for transparency.
