A tense security incident unfolded at Akoti Health Centre after armed individuals reportedly stormed the facility in an attempt to attack a suspected rival gang member who was undergoing medical treatment.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident followed a violent confrontation involving a man identified as Yaw Buabeng and a couple.

The altercation reportedly escalated into a cutlass fight, leaving all parties with varying degrees of injuries.

One of the victims, identified only as Daniel, sustained deep cuts to his arm and was the first to arrive at the health centre for emergency treatment. Medical staff immediately attended to him due to the severity of his injuries.

Moments later, Yaw Buabeng, who had suffered heavy bleeding from head and hand wounds, was also rushed to the same facility seeking urgent medical care. His arrival allegedly triggered the subsequent attack.

Witnesses say a group of armed men, believed to be associates of one of the rival factions involved in the earlier clash, forcefully entered the health centre, causing panic among patients, health workers, and visitors.

The attackers were reportedly attempting to reach one of the injured men inside the facility, disrupting medical services and threatening the safety of those present.

Health workers and bystanders fled for safety as the situation escalated, prompting calls for immediate security intervention.

Details on how the attackers were eventually dispersed remain unclear, but order was later restored.

Local authorities are said to be investigating the incident, which has raised serious concerns about the safety of health facilities and the growing spillover of gang-related violence into public institutions meant to provide care and protection.
