Ashawo Apprentice Beaten by Madam for Failing to Meet GH¢400 Daily Sales Target in Koforidua

An apprentice in Koforidua has reportedly been assaulted by her madam for allegedly failing to meet a daily sales target of GH¢400.

The incident has drawn public attention after details were disclosed by the Koforidua Police Commander, Superintendent Ransford Nsiah.

According to Supt. Nsiah, the victim was subjected to physical abuse after she was unable to generate the expected amount for the day.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the young woman had been working under the supervision of the suspect, who allegedly imposed strict daily financial targets.

Police say the matter came to their attention following a report lodged by concerned individuals.

The victim has since received medical attention, and her condition is said to be stable.

Authorities have taken the suspect into custody to assist with investigations.

Supt. Nsiah emphasized that assault and any form of physical abuse remain criminal offenses under Ghanaian law, regardless of the circumstances.

He further urged employers and guardians to resolve workplace disputes through lawful and humane means rather than resorting to violence.

The Police Command also appealed to the public to report cases of abuse promptly to prevent escalation and ensure the protection of vulnerable individuals.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to be processed in accordance with the law.
