“Being Broke While in a Relationship Is the Worst Mistake for a Woman — Lady Shares Experience”

A woman has shared a candid account of her past relationship, urging young women to avoid entering relationships while financially dependent.

According to her, one of the most damaging positions a woman can place herself in is being unemployed, financially unstable, and emotionally invested in a relationship at the same time.

She explained that being “broke,” in this context, goes beyond lacking money—it means having no job, no business, no personal pursuit, and no independent source of purpose.

Reflecting on her experience in 2019, she revealed that she was involved in a relationship that gradually derailed her personal and professional growth.

Although her career was not fully established at the time, she had interests and was actively pursuing opportunities, particularly in acting.

However, after entering the relationship, her partner discouraged her from continuing her work, claiming it was inappropriate.

She said she eventually abandoned her ambitions and focused entirely on the relationship.

Her life revolved around visiting her partner, who lived outside Lagos, and ensuring constant physical presence, often at the expense of her own progress.

“He became my job,” she admitted, describing how she neglected her personal development while prioritizing the relationship.

The woman noted that being in a relationship with the wrong partner can result in subtle control masked as concern.

She warned that such men often provide discouraging reasons to prevent women from pursuing opportunities that could lead to self-improvement.

She further emphasized that, in her experience, men often prioritize themselves.

When her partner decided to relocate abroad, he had already made arrangements for his future and ended the relationship before leaving.

This left her dealing with heartbreak while financially stranded and emotionally vulnerable.

Her story serves as a cautionary reminder for women to maintain financial independence and personal identity while dating.

She stressed that relationships should complement one’s growth, not replace it, and encouraged women to invest in themselves before investing fully in love.
