China has officially rejected a proposal attributed to former U.S. President Donald Trump to replace the United Nations with a newly suggested “Board of Peace,” reaffirming its firm support for the existing UN-centered international system.

Beijing made it clear that it views the United Nations as the cornerstone of global governance and has no intention of endorsing alternative structures that undermine multilateralism.

In its response, China emphasized that the UN remains the most legitimate and inclusive platform for addressing international peace, security, and development challenges.

Chinese officials reiterated that the current global order, built around the UN and international law, reflects broad international consensus and should be strengthened rather than dismantled.

The proposal for a “Board of Peace” has been widely viewed as vague and lacking international legitimacy, raising concerns about unilateralism and the erosion of established multilateral institutions.

China’s stance signals resistance to efforts that could weaken collective decision-making or shift global governance toward smaller, power-driven groupings.

At a time marked by geopolitical rivalry, regional conflicts, and diverging visions for global leadership, Beijing’s position serves as a clear reaffirmation of the UN framework.

China pledged to continue working with other nations to safeguard the international system, promote dialogue, and uphold multilateral cooperation.

The response underscores an ongoing divide in global governance approaches: unilateral experimentation versus reform and reinforcement of existing multilateral institutions.
