The family of late highlife icon Daddy Lumba has taken steps to block a proposed second funeral ceremony, following a ruling by the Accra High Court granting them permission to file an application for an injunction.
The legal action is being led by family head Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, who is seeking to restrain organisers from proceeding with a separate “Celebration of Life” event reportedly scheduled for March 28 and 29.
The programme is said to be spearheaded by Papa Shee, Akosua Serwaa, and other associates.
In an interview with GhanaWeb journalist Isaac Dadzie on February 13, 2026, family lawyer Dominic Kwadwo Osei of Baba Jamal & Associates confirmed that the court had granted leave for the family to formally pursue an injunction.
According to him, the legal team is preparing to file the necessary processes in the coming days, with detailed grounds to be outlined in their application.
The dispute arises months after the official funeral rites for Daddy Lumba were held on December 13, 2025, under the direction of the family head. While expressing confidence in their case, the family’s legal representatives acknowledged that the ultimate decision rests with the court.
