Court Orders Daddy Lumba’s Maternal Family to Pay GH¢2 Million or Allow Abusuapanin to Proceed with Funeral at Babayara Sports stadium.

A Kumasi High Court has issued a directive to the maternal family of the late legendary highlife musician, Daddy Lumba, compelling them to either pay a sum of GH¢2 million in damages to Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, popularly known as “TUPAC,” or step aside and allow him to proceed with the planned funeral rites.

The court ruling, delivered on the morning of December 13, 2025, follows a legal dispute over the rightful authority to organize the late musician’s funeral.

TUPAC, who claims to be the recognized family head (Abusuapanyin), filed an injunction seeking to halt the funeral, which was scheduled to take place today.

According to the court, if the maternal family fails to comply with the payment by 2:00 PM today, TUPAC shall have the legal right to proceed with the funeral arrangements as originally intended.

The ruling has sparked public interest, particularly among fans and sympathizers of Daddy Lumba, whose legacy in Ghanaian music remains unmatched.

The late artist’s funeral has been a subject of controversy in recent weeks, with competing factions laying claim to the organization of the final rites.
