Daddy Lumba wives court ruling: Woman advises wives to “curse any sidechick” after the court recognizes both spouses.

The intense Daddy Lumba wives court ruling delivered at the Kumasi High Court has triggered a fierce cultural debate on fidelity and spirituality. Immediately after the verdict, a heated interview broadcast by UTV Ghana went viral. Visibly emotional, a woman outside the court urged legal wives to aggressively protect their marriages. Specifically, she advised women to “curse any sidechick” who attempts to intrude on their matrimonial homes. According to her, the court’s decision serves as a wake-up call for wives to be vigilant against rivals.

Meanwhile, the court officially dismissed Akosua Serwaa’s claim to be the sole legal widow. Explicitly, the judge rejected her German marriage certificate as mere “extracts” rather than original certified copies. Consequently, the ruling invalidated her attempt to exclude Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni. Instead, the judge recognized both women as valid customary wives of the late Highlife legend. Therefore, the family will now lead the funeral arrangements, with both widows entitled to perform traditional rites.

However, the “curse” advice highlights the deep polarization surrounding this case. On one hand, supporters of Akosua Serwaa feel she was betrayed after decades of marriage. They view the ruling as a victory for “sidechicks” who usurp the positions of long-term spouses. Conversely, Odo Broni’s supporters argue that presence matters more than paper. Notably, the court heard that Akosua had not visited Lumba in Ghana for nearly 19 years, amounting to desertion. Ultimately, this Daddy Lumba wives court ruling has exposed the complex conflict between statutory law and traditional reality in Ghana. Finally, the debate continues on whether a marriage certificate or daily devotion defines a true wife.
