Doggy Style Sex May Increase Risk of Hernia in Men – Herbal Doctor Warns

Rev. Ernest Ampaw, a renowned herbal doctor and sexual health advocate, has cautioned men against the frequent practice of doggy style sex, citing it as a potential contributor to the development of hernias.

Speaking during an interview on Asaase Radio Xtra on December 18, 2025, Rev. Ampaw explained that the popular sexual position, while widely practiced, can exert excessive pressure on the lower abdominal wall and pelvic muscles in men.

According to him, this pressure especially when sustained over time or performed with force can weaken the abdominal lining, increasing the likelihood of hernia formation.

“A lot of men who come to my clinic with hernia issues admit to having engaged in intense sexual activity in the doggy style position. The strain it puts on the lower abdomen is real, and over time, it can tear the tissues,” Rev. Ampaw emphasized.

He advised sexually active men to be cautious and practice moderation, especially when engaging in physically demanding positions.

He also encouraged regular health checkups and early treatment of any signs of hernia, such as groin pain, swelling, or a bulge in the lower abdomen.

Rev. Ampaw’s comments have sparked conversations on social media and within health circles, with some supporting the need for public education on the physical risks associated with certain sexual practices, while others have called for scientific backing to his claims.

Hernias, especially inguinal hernias, are common in men and can be caused by heavy lifting, persistent coughing, or strain on abdominal muscles.
