Dormaa Youth Give Kwame Nkrumah Tikese 72 Hours to Render Apology

1

Dormaa Youth has given Kwame Nkrumah Tikese an ultimatum of 72 Hours to render an unqualified apology.

Dormamaan Connect, an association of concerned citizens and natives of Dormaa, has issued a strong statement condemning what it describes as “grossly disrespectful and defamatory” remarks made against the Dormaahene and the people of Dormaa by radio presenter Mr. Kwame Nkrumah Tikese of Okay FM.

The comments in question were reportedly made during Tikese’s morning show “Adeɛ Akye Abia” on December 17, 2025, in reaction to the Dormaahene’s rejection of a mediation report led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The group stated that Tikese’s remarks were not only unprofessional but also culturally offensive, insulting, and damaging to the unity and dignity of the Dormaa people.

In a press release dated December 18, 2025, Dormamaan Connect demanded the following:

1. Immediate Retraction and Apology

They are calling on Mr. Tikese to issue an unqualified apology within 72 hours and retract the alleged defamatory comments on the same platform.

2. Formal Apology from Despite Media Group*

The group also demands a corporate apology from Despite Media Group, owners of Okay FM, acknowledging institutional responsibility for allowing such remarks on air.

3. Intervention by the National Communications Authority (NCA)

Dormamaan Connect has formally petitioned the NCA to investigate the incident, apply appropriate sanctions, and ensure ethical broadcasting standards are upheld.

4. Presidential Attention

The group is also appealing to the President of Ghana to speak against the growing trend of media disrespect toward traditional leadership.

5. Traditional Sanction

Until a satisfactory apology is rendered, Mr. Tikese is declared persona non grata on all Dormaa lands. Any attempt to enter the area, they warned, would be treated as a violation of customary authority.
