Dormaahene Applauds Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for Mediation Efforts in Bawku Conflict

In a significant show of appreciation, the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, has commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his ongoing efforts in mediating peace in the conflict-stricken Bawku area of the Upper East Region of Ghana.

Speaking publicly on December 22, 2025, the Dormaahene described Otumfuo’s intervention as timely, noble, and deserving of national recognition.

He emphasized that the Asantehene’s commitment to restoring calm and fostering reconciliation among the feuding factions reflects true leadership and a deep dedication to national unity.

Bawku has for years been plagued by intermittent ethnic clashes, resulting in loss of lives, displacement, and instability.

Efforts by various governments and stakeholders to permanently resolve the conflict have faced several challenges.

However, Otumfuo’s respected status and impartial approach have reignited hope for lasting peace in the area.

Dormaahene noted that traditional leaders must rise above regional divisions to safeguard national cohesion, and Otumfuo’s involvement is a testament to that higher calling.
