The Oti Regional Police Command has intercepted a large quantity of suspected narcotics concealed in a long trailer truck at Dambai in the Oti Region.
According to an official news release dated 10th February 2026, the operation was carried out based on intelligence gathered by the Command. Officers intercepted a DAF long trailer with registration number GW 1943-09 and conducted a thorough search of the vehicle.
Although the trailer initially appeared empty, further inspection revealed that it had been modified with secret compartments sealed with six metal plates.

The concealed sections were opened in the presence of the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Amidu Jabril.
A detailed search of the hidden compartments led to the discovery of approximately 4,000 parcels of compressed dried leaves wrapped in yellow masking tape, suspected to be narcotic substances.
The parcels had been carefully concealed beneath the trailer in an apparent attempt to evade detection.
Police have impounded the truck, and all retrieved exhibits have been secured for evidential purposes.
The suspect has been detained and is assisting investigators as efforts continue to determine the source and intended destination of the suspected narcotics.
