A driver’s mate at Kronum near Kumasi is on the run after allegedly stabbing his colleague in the neck during a confrontation over an accusation of skin bleaching.
The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on January 24, 2026, at Kronum Kyerease in the Suame District.
The suspect, identified only as Mallachy, is said to have attacked his colleague, Gabriel Arhin, using a broken bottle, inflicting life-threatening injuries.
According to the Suame District Police, both men are friends, drivers’ mates, and residents of Kronum.

A police statement indicated that the two met at a local beer bar to have a drink when Mallachy allegedly accused Arhin of bleaching his skin. The accusation reportedly angered Arhin, leading to a physical fight between the pair.
Bystanders intervened and managed to separate them. However, police say Mallachy, still enraged, broke a Coca-Cola bottle and stabbed Arhin in the neck shortly afterward.
The incident was reported to the police by Kwadwo Oheme Williams, believed to be the victim’s father.
Police officers subsequently visited the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Ward, where Arhin was found on admission and responding to treatment.
Statements were obtained from both the complainant and the victim, and a Police Medical Report Form was issued for further documentation.

Following the attack, the suspect fled the area. Police have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest him to assist with investigations.
