Duabo King Arrested for Allegedly Publishing False News to Cause Fear and Panic

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Isaac Boafo, popularly known as “Duabo King,” for allegedly publishing false news with intent to cause fear and panic.

According to a press release issued by the Police Public Affairs Unit in Kumasi on March 1, 2026, the arrest follows a viral TikTok video in which the suspect alleged that four police officers stationed at the Central Police Station in Kumasi engaged in inappropriate conduct with commercial sex workers during night patrols at Asafo.

Police say officers from the Ashanti Regional Police Intelligence Directorate acted on intelligence to apprehend the suspect.

During interrogation, Boafo reportedly admitted to publishing the video and stated that he is a social media content creator who made the allegations solely to attract views and online engagement.

He further acknowledged that he could not substantiate the claims made against the officers.

The statement also indicated that the suspect admitted to making comments about the President of the Republic for content creation purposes and conceded that he could not defend those statements.

Boafo has since been formally charged and is being detained to assist with ongoing investigations.

The Police have cautioned the public against the publication and circulation of false information, particularly on social media, warning that such acts can cause unnecessary fear, panic, and reputational harm.

Authorities emphasized that offenders will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
