Former Ghanaian Soldier Now in US Army Highlights Stark Pay Gaps and Conditions

A viral video featuring ex-Ghanaian soldier Kwaku Raymond, now serving in the United States Army, has sparked widespread discussion after he openly compared the stark differences in remuneration and working conditions between the Ghana Armed Forces and their US counterparts.

In the video, Kwaku Raymond passionately expressed concern over the financial struggles and poor welfare of junior-ranked personnel in Ghana’s military.

He pointed out that despite the commitment and sacrifices made by soldiers in Ghana, many are underpaid and operate under less favorable conditions.

His message, summarized by the statement “Abrokyire dier we all must go some!” which loosely translates to “We all need to travel abroad” has struck a chord with many young Ghanaians and military personnel alike, igniting conversations about the need for systemic reforms within the Ghana Armed Forces.
